Featuring former members of the Macrae Sisters and the Foghorn Stringband, Hopping Jenny unites four seasoned old-time players from Portland, Oregon. At a concert, square dance, or session, the band delivers an irresistible mix of driving dance tunes and old country, bluegrass and traditional harmony singing, all infused with the infectious energy of Portland’s vibrant old time scene.
Fiddler Sophie Vitells Enloe and banjo player Gabrielle Macrae have been playing traditional music together for over a decade. Their powerful yet melodic playing combines musical creativity with a devotion to traditional Appalachian styles. Sophie and Gabrielle are joined by master rhythm team and old time veterans Kevin Sandri and Brian Bagdonas on guitar and bass, whose driving energy never fails to get the crowd dancing.
